How To Win Over Clients

Feb 25, 2022 | Divorce start up business

Various factors contribute to your success as a business owner – meaning that you have to be prepared to take on the challenge that comes with this. For example, you have to build and manage your pipeline and get your finances under control. However, the first (and perhaps most important) step to running a successful divorce business is finding your first clients.

With that in mind, here are some top tips that you can use to find customers.

Find your niche.

When opening a law firm, there are various different avenues for you to consider specializing in. While it could be tempting to offer a range of different services, this could make it harder to find new clients as they would often prefer to work with companies that work solely on whatever legal issue they may be dealing with. This is because a clear-cut specialization often indicates that the firm is on top of its game and has in-depth knowledge on the matters at hand. Therefore, in order to connect with clients, you need to find your niche – such as mediation.

Work on your online presence.

A recent study has found that ‘consumers are now most likely to turn to the Internet to find and research a lawyer before hiring them’, meaning that your online presence is integral to your success and your ability to find clients. While you may be able to gain some customers through networking and referrals, your online presence will likely be your most successful method of customer acquisition – especially when your company is in its infancy. As a result, you should ensure that you set up a website alongside several social media accounts. Don’t be fooled into thinking that social media is merely designed for personal use – as it can quickly become your businesses’ best friend. Having a good social media presence can add credibility to your brand while also making you more accessible.

Ask for referrals.

While customer attrition is not unheard of in the divorce industry (divorcees that remarry are 90% more likely to get divorced than those who are on their first marriage), you’ll likely work with most of your clients only once. As a result, you need to ensure that you use your time together wisely. For example, once you go your separate ways, you can ask them to refer any friends and family to your services should they need it in the future. Acquiring clients through referrals means that new customers know they can trust you before they even meet you – which makes your services seem that much more attractive.

Run a blog.

Running a blog alongside your business’s website is a great way to garner more attention for your brand, and in turn, can help you to connect with new clients. This is because it enables you to showcase your skills or knowledge in a way that is useful and easy to digest. For example, you could put forward a blog that talks your clients through the divorce process so they know exactly what to expect when the time comes. Running a successful blog can also help to increase your search engine rankings so your company becomes more visible.

Be good at what you do.

The easiest way to win over clients is, quite simply, to be good at what you do. This way, you’ll be able to forge a strong relationship with new prospective clients and will have a track record of success to refer back to. Over time, this will allow you to carve out a real name for yourself in the industry – which means that clients will come across you organically.
